A photographer, story teller, coach's wife, mom, kidney donor, and sarcasm prodigy.
I'm Alex Shelley, a San Antonio girl in DFW with an addiction to chips & salsa, coffee, and talking to strangers in the grocery store.
I've always been creative; my mother being an artist, there was always some medium in my hand. Unfortunately, I was never quite good at painting. I grew up taking tons of snapshots with my old 110mm camera and playing with my parents old canon 35mm in high school. While in college, I worked at a small town Texas newspaper where I really fell in love with photography and really learned how to use a camera. Now 15 years later, I'm still in love with it.
After graduating with a degree in Journalism & Public Relations, I worked in higher education using my photography skills to tell the stories of students for marketing. Later I moved into a role where I worked side-by-side with students helping them achieve their dreams. I loved it and was passionate about my work, but I always had my own dream in the back of my heart.
The summer of 2015, I married the football coach. He's always pushing people towards goals, and I'm thankful he pushed me toward mine. At the end of that year, my amazing boss passed away after a hard-fought battle with Pancreatic Cancer. With her words in my heart and the coach cheering me on, I decided to follow my own dream and started my photography business.
Tapping into my journalism background, found I really enjoyed the simple portraiture and documentary-style photography from my newspaper days. I've always been inspired by photographers like Dorthea Lange who captured major moments in history that have never been forgotten.
Over the last few years, I've really enjoyed working with a diverse group of clients and their unique personalities and look forward to every session I have with them. I'm proud to say that many of them have become friends. I hope you become one, too!
