Beckett | An Major League Birth Story in Fort Worth

When Atlanta Braves Pitcher Chris Martin takes the mound during an MLB  game, no one is surpised when that ball clocks 93 MPH across home plate.

So it should come as no surprise that his wife, Dani, would have her own high-speed skills as well.  But for Dani, her fast pitch stats are for the birth of her babies, especially her second baby.

I've been so blessed to photograph the birth of both their babies and have loved every minute of it (literally, only minutes).  With their first birth story, once Dani transitioned, it was a mere few pushes  before their baby was born.

With their second, we knew this little one was going to be a fastball as well.  When Dani's contractions started, there was no waiting at home.

En route to the hospital, Dani and Chris made the calls to their doula, their photographer (me) and the Texas Heath Midwives. It was time for everyone to go, too, or we would be out Houston hitter Jose Altuve when Chris is on the mound.

When they got the hospital, Chris pulled up in the valet drive, left all their bags in the car, left the car in the valet drive, and went straight upstairs to Labor & Delivery.

As one nurse checked them in, another nurse wheeled in the birth cart and the midwife joined the room.  Between contractions, Dani was all smiles with Chris supporting her.

Just as fast as they arrived at the hospital, 15 minutes later their baby had arrived!   In the span of 45 minutes, the Martins had left their home and had a baby.

Dani’s parents soon after arrived at the hospital to visit their newest grandbaby. Beckett enjoyed all the snuggles, finding those arm so warm and cozy.

Before long, Dani and Beckett were moved to recovery - the suite specifically. While they were busy moving, Chris went down to the lobby to meet his parents and big sister Kolbi. Just as Dani got settled in her recovery room, Kolbi and Chris peaked into the door.

Kolbi was very interested in her new little brother. She cautiously gave him hugs and kisses before discovering just how bouncy that hospital bed could be. But Beckett didn’t mind. He just napped away as he was passed from family member to family member.

Beckett is the sweetest little slugger.

Congratulations, Martin Family! You hit this one out of the park!
